What is in GAPP?
- Definition of Evolutionary Conserved Segments between rat and mouse.
- Predicted rat gene positions are based on rat-mouse "evolutionary conserved segments (ECS)", (see Goméz-Fabre et al. 2002).
- Mapped or predicted positions of the rat homologs to genes and QTLs which have a recorded cM position in the mouse (according to MGD).
- GAPP contains links to RatMap and MGD for each gene.
What can be extracted using the QUERY from GAPP?
- Rat symbol (eg "Acadm") --> cytogenetic position in the rat
- Truncated rat symbol (eg "Cyp") --> table of rat cytogenetic positions for all genes whose symbol fits the criterion.
- Word(s) from gene description (eg "polymerase") --> table of rat cytogenetic positions for all genes whose gene description fits the criterion.
- Genes located in a specific rat chromosome band, select rat chr and type band (eg. "q11") --> table of all genes with position in the specified band.
- Orthologs in a combination of a rat and a mouse chromosome, select one chromosome from each species --> table of all genes common to the two chromosomes selected
