    This rat chromosome idiogram is adopted from Szpirer, et al., Folia Biol (Praha), 42:175-226 (1996) and based on the nomenclature rules for rat chromosome G-bands given in Levan, Hereditas, 77:37-52 (1974). The system for rat chromosome nomenclature closely follows the international system for human cytogenetic nomenclature (ISCN (1995): An International System for Human Cytogenetic Nomenclature, Mitelman F (ed); S. Karger, Basel 1995).
